Hovey Pond Park

This 10-acre urban park is located between Lafayette Street and Glenwood Avenue and offers many opportunities for active and passive recreation. This unique park includes a walking path around the 4-acre pond (3.5 laps = 1 mile), beautiful floral gardens, a handicapped fishing dock, a marshland walkway, and an accessible playground with a free little library!

Freedom Park

The New Freedom Park at Hovey Pond was built in spring of 2020 to replace the out-dated playground apparatus formerly located on Glenwood Ave. The new safer playground structure has increased square footage, more features, including those for sensory needs, along with a cushioned all-weather ground surfacing all enclosed with fencing. Expanded parking can accommodate those looking to visit Hovey Pond.

Memorial Garden

Memorial Dedications

Memorial plaques can be purchased for $225 each as a tribute to a loved one. The plaques are displayed on four large granite memorial stones within the circular Hovey Pond Memorial Garden. Flower Gardens

The Robert L. Eddy Botanical Gardens at Hovey Pond Park are planted and maintained by the dedicated Friends of Hovey Pond Park, an all-volunteer group. The gardens include blooms throughout the summer and benches for quiet reflection. Take some time to explore this beautiful, peaceful setting!

Marshland Walkway

This urban park offers a quiet walkway through marshland. Complete with observation decks and interpretive signage, you can learn a little bit on the way.

Maine Pavilion

IMPORTANT INFORMATION ON DOGS

Leashing: Dogs must be leashed at all times in this park.
Supervision & Safety: Dogs must never be left unattended or tethered; aggressive or dangerous dogs must be promptly removed from parks and trails.
ID Required: All dogs must wear a collar with an ID tag and a valid license.
Restricted Areas: Dogs are prohibited on playgrounds.
Waste Disposal: Owners are responsible for picking up and properly disposing of dog waste immediately. This includes wooded areas as well.
Repair Damage: Owners must prevent their dogs from digging and are accountable for filling any holes created by their pets.
Incident Reporting: In cases where a dog causes injury to a person or another animal, the dog owner must provide identification for the injured party and must immediately report the incident to the SPCA of Upstate New York.
