About Aquatics

Queensbury Parks & Recreation has been a valuable asset toward educating area children for nearly 50 years. Our quality aquatic programs run on a year-round basis — at Queensbury Elementary School in the colder months and at Gurney Lane Recreation Area in the summer.

Queensbury Elementary School Pool

Queensbury Elementary School has two pools: A six-lane, 25-yard competition pool and a smaller educational pool,10’W x 42’L ranging in depth from 2 feet to 3 feet deep. The main competition pool is 42’ x 75’ with an elongated shallow end. Its depth goes from 3.5’ to 5 feet deep at the decline to the maximum depth of 9’ feet in the deep end. There are competition-style starting blocks at the deep end of the pool. The facility is host to both Boys and Girls High School swim meets, along with smaller club swim team meets.

Gurney Lane Recreation Area Pool

Gurney Lane Recreation Area has a 6’200-square-foot Z-shaped pool. The “kiddie” end is 32’W x 36’L going from 2’ feet deep from the walk-in steps to the section divider float line at 3’6” depth. The main section of the pool is a six-lane 25-yard competition pool. Its depth ranges from 3’6” near the “kiddie” end tapering deeper to a depth of 5’6” at the start of the “diving well”. The last “z” section is the deep-end, 36’L x 36’W. The deep end is strictly for our 1-meter diving board and 9’-tall slide use. Lap lanes (2) are available during open swim times. We offer:
